Talk, HPC & The Roaring 20s of Computing: Symposium on the occasion of Prof. Henri Bal's retirement, VU, Amsterdam, the Netherlands

I had the privilege to be invited to the Symposium organized for the retirement of professor Henri Bal at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Since the topic was on sustainability and HPC, I opted to put together work on carbon emissions in multi-tenant services combined with our latest papers on the energy consumption of cloud-native applications. I was invited to talk at the sixth Dutch national symposium on software engineering (SEN) organized by VERSEN, the Dutch National Association for Software Engineering. The talk revolved around my ongoing work on establishing the relation between software architecture and cost, which has become obvious through the adoption of cloud computing. At the CloudWays 2017 workshop I talked about my take on how a CBA lifecycle should look like, including proposing a definition of CBAs that seems to be missing from the literature.
